Keeping up with TikTok trends can feel like a full-time job. And while they’re not the be all, end all solution, trends can help inspire your content and boost engagement.
Adding your own unique twist to current trends can be a great way to keep your brand in the loop and join the conversation.
Here’s a round up of the latest TikTok trends you need to know about.
The premise: A hacker is threatening to leak your camera roll unless you transfer them $$.
The joke being, most of us have phones full of pictures of our dogs, Sunday night PJ selfies and screenshots of conversations.
Accompanied by some Greek music that really sets the tone, the user shares the pics from their camera roll that would make any hacker laugh and then cry (because they’d have no juicy content to blackmail with).
The best versions of this trend use relatable, funny images to showcase their real-life personality. And this is the main reason it’s gone viral.
Audiences get to peek behind the facade of their favourite celebrities and brands, and see what goes on behind the scenes.
Honestly, all of us. Because it’s quite funny.
But for brands, it can work across most industries. Whether you’re showcasing the team behind your small business or sharing the funny mistakes you’ve made as a brand, this trend can be a great way to be more real.
@antanddecA little bit revealing… in more ways than one 😂🍑♬ Sirtaki (Zorba the Geek) – LucasGitanoFamily
Set to a sped up version of Rhianna’s “Love On The Brain”, users are showing a before and after.
Typically this is a transition from PJs to black tie, or bare faced to fully made up but for businesses it could look like an original version of a product followed by the current version, an office transformation or an outfit change from office to evening event.
Everyone loves a glow up. Audiences start watching thinking nothing much is happening and then within a few seconds, an amazing transformation is revealed.
Brands and creators looking to show how far they’ve come, grab attention and surprise their audience.

Started by singer Geena Fontanella, this trend features a cover of Gnarls Barkey’s “Crazy”. The OG video features an incredible vocal run where the singer visibly surprises herself.
This feel good clip has inspired millions of spin off videos. Some copy the vocals impeccably and surprise themselves (it’s crazy how many people can actually sing). Others try to hit the notes and fail miserably, giving us all a laugh. And the rest have added a twist to the trend by sharing a time when they lost their mind.
Watching people sing this riff and nail it is infectiously positive. Meanwhile, seeing others fail miserably and laugh at themselves is equally hilarious.
As a brand, you’d probably want to share a time you “lost their mind”. You could share a business mistake, a previous product that was off, or a marketing campaign that sucked.
Or, if you fancy it, you could belt out a tune. We’d probably opt for the former though.
@geenafontanellaLiterally we had done so many takes, I wasnt prepared 😂 ♬ People with Daddy Issues use this sound – Geena Fontanella
Last month Meghan Trainor released the track “Made You Look”, and it didn’t take long for this fun track to go viral.
A couple of trends have emerged as a result. The main one is a TikTok dance (standard) and the other features users sharing something that made them look. Check Jo Jo Siwa’s version for inspo.
It’s a feel good song, and dances always perform well on TikTok.
Creators and brands can hop on this trend either by learning the dance, or opting to share something that would “Make You Look”. This could be a product or offer that your audience simply can’t miss.
@phoebe.mulyana so did I made you look?👀 yukk diafalinn💖 @Meghan Trainor (dc @brookieandjessie) #dancechallenge #tutorial ♬ Made You Look – Meghan Trainor
