Apple has released their shiny new iPhone 13 Pro and it’s got some features that promise to take your content creation to the next level.
With its mega camera upgrade, exciting new display features, added battery life and storage facilities, it’s Apple’s most sophisticated model yet. Here’s everything content creators need to know about the new iPhone 13 Pro.
The Pro camera gets its “biggest upgrade ever”
Every year, the anticipation around the iPhone camera updates grows and this year, we’re in for a real treat. The iPhone 13 Pro will “change the way you shoot.”
Shoot up close and personal
The Ultra Wide camera, with a new redesigned lens and a powerful autofocus system, can focus at just 2 cm away from your subject. This makes even the smallest details look incredibly clear and in-focus when shot up close. And the same goes for shooting videos, slow-mos and time-lapses.
Shoot up close and personal – but from far away
Shooting from afar has never looked sharper. The new Telephoto camera has a 77 mm focal length and 3x optical zoom. So now when you zoom in to capture content from a distance, you won’t lose as many details or as much clarity.
Become a cinematographer
Content creation is all about storytelling. With the iPhone 13 Pro’s new Cinematic mode, your storytelling skills will be dramatically elevated. The Cinematic mode lets you shoot with shallow depth of field and automatically adds focus transitions between the subjects you’re filming. It can also anticipate when an important new subject is about to enter the frame and bring them into focus when they do. Your video content will give Spielberg a run for his money.
Let there be light, even at night
Night Mode is now available on all Pro cameras. The Wide camera has a wider aperture and Apple’s largest sensor yet. This means when you’re shooting in Night Mode, you can capture up to 2.2x more light. The Ultra Wide camera also has a wider aperture and a faster sensor, plus all-new autofocus. This captures 92% more light in Night Mode. Shooting low-light photography on a mobile has never been more advanced.
Lock in your aesthetic
Are you someone who always loves to add warmth to your content in post-production? Or maybe you’re a sucker for increased tones for a more colourful and vibrant shot. Whatever your go-to aesthetic is, you can now lock in these settings with Photographic Styles. This lets you apply your preferred Tone and Warmth settings to your photos. But unlike filters, they keep things like sky and skin tones looking more natural. Set these preferences, then away you shoot!
Elevated selfies
Of course we need to make sure this new iPhone will up our selfie game – and it does! The TrueDepth camera, or front camera, includes all of these new features. Cinematic mode, Photographic Styles, Night mode and more fun tools are all available to use when shooting those all-important selfies.
A display you’ve never seen – or felt – anything like before
Have you ever been editing your images in Photoshop or videos in Adobe Rush and it feels like your phone isn’t keeping up with you? Well say hello to ProMotion. The new Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion will ramp up your mobile’s frame rates when you need exceptional graphics performance. And when you don’t, it ramps down to save power. The new 5‑core GPU, or graphics processing unit, also delivers up to 50% faster graphics than any other smartphone chip.
The display is also 25% brighter outdoors with “incredible color fidelity”. So seeing those tiny details and unique colours when shooting and editing content outside while on the go, will be easier than ever.
The iPhone’s “best battery life ever”
Yes, you heard that right. The best. Ever. Having your device run out of power is annoying at the best of times. So with up to 1.5 more hours of battery life on the Pro, and 2.5 more hours on the Pro Max, you can shoot and edit for longer while on the go.
Tons – or should we say ‘terabytes’ – of storage
With the amount of content that creators have on file, you want to be working off a device that can hold it all – and then some. Thankfully, the new iPhone 13 Pro offers a new 1TB configuration. That’s an enormous storage capacity for all of your beautiful content.
Say goodbye to paying for more iCloud space. 1TB of storage means you can hold thousands of HD images and videos on your mobile, all available at your fingertips, wherever you are.
Fewer trips to the Apple Dr
We’re not saying creators are clumsy, but you do shoot in some pretty extreme conditions. With surgical-grade stainless steel, a ceramic shield that’s tougher than any other smartphone glass and industry-leading water resistance, the iPhone 13 Pro is arguably the safest mobile for content creators.
Whether you’re a travel blogger who’s constantly on the go, or a landscape photographer shooting at extreme locations, you’ll be taking less trips to see the Apple Dr with this sturdy phone.
