When you become a mother for the first time your entire world shifts, no matter how many books you read on kids and parenting nothing quite prepares you for the rollercoaster ride of motherhood, so I started Bazaarmumma.com to share those new feelings and discoveries I was experiencing with other women to know that we’re not alone. I wanted to inspire mums not to be so hard on themselves – motherhood is a tough, although wonderful journey. We can either let it consume us or we can truly blossom from it.

How do you use social media to try to inspire positive social change?

The female body is a remarkable thing and to think there’s still a stigma out there around breastfeeding (one of nature’s most natural miracles) still astounds me so I’ve always tried to shift that mentality in the best way that I can. After all it’s such a major part of my life, still! Although I know on the contrary how many women also struggle if they can’t or choose not to breastfeed. It doesn’t mean you’re any less of a mother, you can only do your best. I’m a huge fan of creating a positive mindset around your body and soul with self love. Especially for pregnant and new mums, growing babies takes so much out of us so we need all the love we can get!

To love and accept me for who I am. No apologies, no regrets. Don't be afraid that if you're self-compassionate then you'll become self-indulgent. How does working with brands and agencies to create content open up working opportunities for women, particularly for new mums, interested in utilising their creativity in business?

When I started blogging I had no idea what I was doing or how and if I would ever make any income from it. I just went with the flow and tried contacting brands and researching how other influencers did it. Eventually brands and agencies started contacting me and I took any opportunity I could!

It became easy to fit “working” into my new lifestyle as a mum and I realised how big the online mum-community is. Instagram is such an amazing tool for connecting with other like-minded women all around the globe, which means there’s a huge market for creating content and starting a business around that, all from the palm of your hand (i.e phone!)

What advice would you give your daughters if they wanted to become an Influencer/Content Creator?

I would encourage them to find their own unique niche – their something special and if they weren’t sure what that was yet then I would tell them to follow their loves in life. Whether it be travel, food, music or what ever brings them joy and happiness… do that and stay true. Waves of opportunities will be sure to open up if you believe in what you are doing and can create a message from it.

International Women’s Day to me means celebrating the Feminine Force in all of her glory and not just on one single day but every day. It’s about empowering women globally.
